JBL’s commitment to sustainability is evident in our ability to successful manage and maintain the land available to us for more than 70 years. We have never needed to process timber from outside our immediate reach because we act in a sustainable manner every day. Our two timber crews have worked for JBL for many years and are known throughout the local communities they’ve worked in as doing meticulously clean work while being conscientious about the surrounding environment. JBL has never been fined or cited by the NYS DEC for improper operations in our forests.

We strive to continue this tradition and have achieved certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). These organizations are renowned for their efforts in making sure our world’s forests are managed responsibly for current and future generations. JBL is committed to supporting the mission of these organizations and being part of efforts to communicate the criticality of sustainable forestry practices.
